Once you arrived in Cusco after your free day in Lima you will be taken to the Sacred Valley. Once of immense importance to the Incas for its nutritious land they built their Pisac fortress and countless terraces for agricultural purposes that now decorate the beautiful scenery. Experience the Inca culture firsthand at the Living museum of Awanakancha to admire the traditional and colorful textiles.

The next day your adventure along the Inca Trail starts: First by train from Ollantaytambo train station in the Sacred Valley make your way walking through the subtropical jungle and get fascinated by the incredible archeological sites along the way and spectacular nature until you finally arrive at Machu Picchu. On your arrival into Lima International airport, your English speaking GPTravel representative will be waiting for you with your name on a sign to escort you to your hotel. At the hotel, we will help you with your check in and you will be given a briefing regarding the coming days. Founded in 1535 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizzaro, Lima is a mix of colonial structures, pre-Columbian sites and modern buildings.
Depending on your arrival time make sure to check for Lima's best restaurants. With the exquisite Peruvian culinary they are among the top 50 best restaurants worldwide.

In the morning you will be taken to Lima International airport by our private transport to take your domestic flight to Cusco. It is an around 1-hour flight crossing the Andes and numerous towns amid Andean fields.
In Cusco our guide will already be there and welcome you to this beautiful city. Your journey takes you about 40 minutes to the Sacred Valley with a stop at the Living Museum of Awanakancha on the way. There you will get to know local weavers, see Peru’s national animal, the Vicuña, as well as Guanacos, Llamas and Alpacas. The agricultural terraces are a part of the valley’s scenery. The next stop of your luxury tour is Pisac, a picturesque village where the Urubamba river crosses through and surrounded by a series of microclimates due to its special geographic. The land is extremely fertile wherefore the main agricultural products are cultivated there. Pisac is also popular for its impressive Inca complex on top of a mountain.
After your visit stroll through the charming Pisac market where you can buy lovely handicrafts, textiles, jewelry and ceramics. Time for lunch: Enjoy a delicious lunch at an elegant tourist restaurant in the heart of the valley, after which you will be taken to your hotel.

The Inca Trail 2D begins with a pretty early pick up from your hotel at 4 AM followed by a private transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. Your train leaves at 6:10 AM along the Urubamba river, passing beautiful sceneries of snow-capped mountains until you arrive at KM 104, the place where your Inca Trail starts today. It is at around 2,000 m / 6,560 ft and your path takes you upwards to the original Classic Inca Trail. With clear weather magnificent views of the Urubamba River, Machu Picchu and other various Inca sites will await you along your way. The first part of your hike will take around 3 hours until you arrive at Wiñay Wayna, which means “Forever Young” in Quechua. It is one of the most beautiful Inca sites on the trail and in general. You have already hiked up to 2,600 m /8,500 ft now. The site features agricultural terraces, lovely elaborate water fountains and temples. It is also the last campsite of the Classic Inca Trail. After enjoying the Inca heritage continue your trail until you arrive at the Sun Gate. This was once the original entrance to Machu Picchu and offers a wonderful view over it.
After climbing down you will most likely have the whole citadel to yourself as most visitors will already have left once you arrive. Take advantage for some incredible photos before taking the bus down to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the bottom of Machu Picchu.
Accommodate your belongings in your hotel and relax. We recommend going to bed early to enjoy the next day to its fullest.

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise at Machu Picchu! Once you have arrived there your guide will give you a 2-hour guided tour through time of the majestic Inca city. After your tour has finished you can explore the ruins on your own. Take the bus or walk the beautiful stone path back to Aguas Calientes. Head to the Indio Feliz restaurant for some delicious dinner. This restaurant is said to have the best food in town. Afterwards, spend a free afternoon strolling through the picturesque village next to the Urubamba river and then take a train back to Ollantaytambo where you will be already awaited by our GPTravel representative to take you to your hotel in Cusco.

After action packed days full of adventure, you will have the morning free to explore the city on your own; don’t forget to have breakfast at your hotel before walking around the city. In the afternoon visit the majestic complex of Sacsayhuaman, which continues to be a very important religious and ceremonial site from the Incan culture.
You will be astounded by the superb architectural achievements of the Incan civilization and you will be also impressed how the Incas moved and fitted each uniquely shaped stone weighing around 70 tons, so perfectly together and without any known “engineering tools”.
As part of our city tour in Cusco, you will also visit the Cusco Cathedral located in Plaza de Armas, the main square. Here you will see many very important holy Christian artefacts and artworks derived from “the Escuela Cusquena”. Your tour will then take you to the Temple of the Sun, “Qoricancha” located on the main avenue named Avenida el Sol (Avenue of the Sun). This Inca temple was one of the most worshiped and respected temples in the City of Cusco during Inca times. Then you will be escorted to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Today is the day of your departure, a private transport will take you to Cusco International Airport for your domestic flight back to Lima. There you will have enough time to check in for your international flight back home.
