After arrival in Lima and a night to rest the Peruvian rainforest is already waiting for you. Once in Puerto Maldonado after a short flight take a cruise on a boat to the Tambopata National Reserve, a treasure of bio-diversity waiting for you to be explored. Day-1

WELCOME TO LIMA

Lima is the capital of Peru and the perfect place to start your Peruvian adventure. When you arrive into Lima International airport, a GP Travel representative will be waiting with your name on a sign to take you to your selected hotel in the Miraflores. Travel from the airport to the hotel in the comfort of your own private transfer car. When you arrive to the hotel, the representative will give you a briefing of the following days.
Depending on your arrival time make sure to check for Lima's best restaurants. With the exquisite Peruvian culinary they are among the top 50 best restaurants worldwide.

Day-2

LIMA – PUERTO MALDONADO – TAMBOPATA

After breakfast at your hotel a private transport will take you to Lima International airport to take your domestic flight to Puerto Maldonado. There a representative will already wait for your transfer to Tambopata across the Madre de Dios River by boat. In the meantime, let the first impression of the rainforest sink in and observe the river banks for its inhabitants. Once you have settled in your accommodations start getting to know the rainforest with a guided walk through the jungle full of insect life and various bird species. In the evening enjoy a boat ride along the river and see how the day changes into the night with its nocturnal wildlife. If you are lucky you can spot rarely seen animals like owls, nightjars and caimans.

Day-3

TAMBOPATA

First, take a boat ride to the Canopy Interpretation Center by Inkaterra, a 30-meter-high center with eight observation platforms which are all connected by bridges. Take your time walking over the bridges and observing the fascinating rainforest from above with plenty of different bird flying past the vast nature and other animals that live in the jungle such as monkeys, toucans, sloths and many more. After spending some time enjoying the view a delicious lunch will be served.
The day continues by an exclusive tour through the Sandoval Lake. It is said to be the most beautiful lake in the Tambopata National Reserve where you can spot a lot of animals. Among them are herons, kingfishers and giant river otters. If you wish cool down from the heat you can jump right into the river.

Day-4

TAMBOPATA

Today you are invited to visit the Hacienda Concepción. By boat you will reach the botanical garden with more than 200 different species of rainforest plants. Your guide will share the vast knowledge of the traditional plants, the benefits, the uses and dangers. The native people of the rainforest still practice the processing and rely on the effects of the plants to this day.
After lunch a boat will take you to Rolin Island and Community to enjoy some free time and explore the islands ecosystem. To conclude the day, visit the Primate Rescue Center which is home to three species: the squirrel monkey, the white and the brown capuchin monkey.

Day-5

PUERTO MALDONADO – CUSCO

Today after breakfast you will be transferred back to Puerto Maldonado to visit a butterfly farm. Its inhabitants are more than 3,800 different kinds of butterflies as well as moths. After your visit you will be taken to the airport for your domestic flight from the Jungle to the Andes with its ancient Inca capital Cusco.
Upon your arrival our GPTravel representative will welcome you. By private transport head to the Sacred Valley, once holy to the Inca due to its fertile land. The Sacred Valley is perfect to acclimatize to the altitude and offers a breathtaking scenery with its countless terraces and the mighty Andes. The picturesque villages spread all over the valley are home to impressive Inca ruins and remains of the ancient powerful culture.
On your way to your hotel you will stop at the Living Museum of Awanakancha. There you can witness locals weaving in the traditional style, Incan agricultural terraces and Vicuñas, Guanacos, Llamas and Alpaca grazing. The Vicuña is the nation's animal and depicted on their currency and flag.

CUSCO - SACRED VALLEY

Today, you will go on an excursion through beautiful Sacred Valley. In the morning, our guide will pick you up from your hotel to take you to Pisac, a small picturesque village amid the mighty Andes. Next to Pisac, on top of a mountain, lies majestically the archeological Inca complex. There you will have a private tour through the ruins and their fascinating history. While your stay enjoy the wonderful view over the Sacred Valley and the Urubamba river. Later, walk through the small alleys and adobe homes to explore the charming market where you can find handmade ceramics, jewelry and traditional textiles. Afterwards, you are invited for a delicious lunch in an elegant restaurant in the heart of the Sacred Valley.
To continue the tour you will make your way to Ollantaytambo, home of an incredible archeological site left for us by the Incas since the 15th century. Consisting of huge terraces and irrigation systems it was place of a successful battle against the Spanish conquistadors under Inca Manco, after Inca Pachacutec conquered it years before and made a home to Inca nobility. Once the Spaniards came back with even more force he and his men had to retreat. The Temple of the Sun, which was never finished, featuring the impressive wall of the Six Monoliths with each stone weighing 50 tons. Your tour leads you not only to religious sites but also along walls with stones perfectly fitting together, the famous and incredible Inca architecture.
Finish this spectacular tour through history with a transfer to your hotel in the Sacred Valley where you can enjoy a free afternoon or explore more hidden treasures on your own.

SACRED VALLEY – AGUAS CALIENTES - MACHU PICCHU

Considered as one of the Seven New World Wonders, Machu Picchu is one of the most popular destinations in the world. Get ready for your once-in-a-lifetime experience, it starts today!
Your anticipated day begins with an early pick-up from your hotel and a transfer to Ollantaytambo train station. After your guide has received you at the Aguas Calientes train station a bus will take you along serpentines up to Machu Picchu entrance. Together with your guide you will go on a 2-hour excursion through this majestic city and unravel its mysteries. Built by Pachacuti Inca Yupanci more than fivehundred years ago, it still leaves us without a clue about its original purpose. The answer lies somewhere in the solid stonewalls, constructed by the famous, unique Inca architecture of stones fitting perfectly together. High up in the mountains, surrounded by cloud forests, Machu Picchu survived the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. With its temples, agricultural terraces and expertedly crafted buildings it leaves us speechless up to this day. A UNESCO Wold Heritage since 1983 it allows us a glimpse back into the mighty Incan Empire, once the largest existing empire in pre-Columbian America.
After your guided excursion enjoy lunch at the Tinkuy restaurant, part of the Belmond Sanctuary lodge and the most luxurious restaurant next to Machu Picchu, welcoming you with a variety of delicious food. Then take the bus back to Aguas Calientes where you will catch the train in the afternoon back to Cusco. A private transport will already be waiting for you to escort you to your hotel.

CUSCO

We will start with the majestic complex of Sacsayhuaman, which continues to be a very important religious and ceremonial site for the Incan culture. You will be amazed by the superior architectural achievements of the Incan civilization and impressed when imagining the feat of moving and fitting each uniquely shaped, stone with some weighing more than 70 tons, so perfectly together and without any “engineering tools”. After our visit to Sacsayhuaman, we will head to Q'enko, PukaPukara, and Tambomachay.
Next up you¡ll visit the Main Square with the amazing Cathedral, synonymous of the style of Cusco's Colonial past. Get ready for the impressive Temple of the Sun Qoricancha (gold place) the most important Inca temple of ancient times. Once the tour has finished, we will take you back to your hotel, then you can have the rest of afternoon as free time for exploring the city on your own.
